carolinerander_sandiegorealtor Been a minute since I shared something so personal, but the cards my daughters wrote me yesterday got me, and made me reflect.. 💝 They weren’t flashy. Just handwritten words from the hearts of a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old who expressed themselves in a way that was new. But in those words, I saw the reflection of all the moments I wondered if I was doing enough… if I was being enough. Like so many moms (and dads), I’ve carried guilt for the nights I worked late, the dinners I missed, the times I chose self care over another game or bedtime story. I’ve also felt bad about the times I said no or may have dismissed their feelings, because I was dealing with my own. I hoped all the moments we share stick in their hearts. And somehow, reading these cards, I see they did. They felt it. They saw the effort. And just like that, my heart exhaled. There’s no perfect balance. Some seasons ask more of us than others. But if you’ve ever doubted yourself, I just want to say: it shows up. All of it. Even when you think it doesn’t. They see you. They just can’t express it until they’re a little older. I’ve come to the personal conclusion it’s the quality of the time with them that matters, and not how much time. Where they feel like they have your attention and you’re listening, that you care and you’ve got their back. And maybe, just maybe… if you’re like me and you’ve wondered too, you’re doing better than you think 🤍
